Neal Greenfield
A lifelong resident of New York City, Neal works with our team and clients providing his broad depth of experience coming from decades of work spent in law firm, corporate, and entrepreneurial environments.
Neal is primarily engaged in protecting our clients’ intellectual property interests and defending them against IP infringement claims by others. He also prepares complex business-related agreements. He has helped our clients understand their rights and liabilities, especially, in the area of intellectual property, and has evaluated, prosecuted, and defended complex cases for our clients. His professional experience is reinforced by his “soft” skills that emphasize understanding what the real interests and concerns are of the clients, opponents, trademark office examiners, administrative board members, and judges. He serves our clients by focusing on their ultimate best interests, given the limitations of the facts and the client’s budget.
Neal began his practice with established New York City intellectual property boutique firms. After serving in- house with a tech startup, he became an in-house consulting attorney for leading consumer product and pharmaceutical corporations, acquiring broad experience he now applies to his work with ESQgo clients. He has written and edited four books on the effect of the internet and online environments in general on trademark law and trademark practice. All were published by the International Trademark Association. For many years he wrote on these topics and spoke internationally. In addition to intellectual property, Neal is experienced in the areas of general civil litigation, labor and employment, employment discrimination defense, corporate formation and governance, international and domestic trademark portfolio management, licensing, and enforcement.
As a dedicated Kadampa Buddhist, Neal finds that the practice of Buddhism has made him a better attorney in ways he would not have understood previously. He is also a teaching student and a part-time teacher.
